Alzheimer’s Care

A Specially Designed Environment for those
with Alzheimer’s or Related Dementia.

Family Support:

Family involvement is essential to a successful program. Our program centers on the uniqueness of the individual and their family. Understanding each individual’s past life and family history assists the staff in providing a sense of belonging. This unique setting can offer a family support group, which provides continuing education and information to better understand the symptoms and treatment of the Alzheimer’s Disease.

Staff/Training:

Through continued educational programs, lectures, role playing and group discussions, our specially selected and trained staff will interact with individuals in a way that reinforces our program’s philosophy. The emphasis is placed on creating an environment that offers success oriented activities.

Admission Criteria:

  • The resident must have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or other related dementia.
  • It must be determined by a physician that the resident is appropriate for care in this specially designed setting.
  • The resident must be able to ambulate independently. Special considerations will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • The resident must be able to participate in and benefit from programming.

Environment:

This setting was designed to make individuals feel at home. Through research and experience we have developed an environment by specially selecting décor, lighting and color schemes. Our design can promote independence and freedom similar to past lifetime experiences. This design can reduce stress, promote better sleeping patterns and stimulate appetites, while providing for the special needs of each individual.
Our courtyard creates an atmosphere where the individual can spend time outdoors, enjoy recreational gardening or visit with family and friends, to name just a few.

Activity Based Programming:

This environment provides a serene atmosphere where activities can be planned according to each individual’s interests and abilities to promote a stress free world. Our program strives to enhance each individual’s quality of life, embracing both past and present, to maintain a sense of self-identity. Our Staff and Volunteers provide intellectual stimulation and encourage self-expression through the acceptance of each individual’s perception of reality.
Each day can be full of “failure free” activities beginning as they arise in the morning and ending when they retire at night.
