Groundbreaking ceremonies were recently held at 3530 Monroe Street, La Porte, the site of the new Miller’s Health and Rehab location, with plans to replace the facility currently housed on the fifth and sixth floors of IU La Porte Hospital. Patrick Boyle, President and CEO of Miller’s Health Systems, recently announced plans for construction of the 48,000 sq. ft. facility, which will include a dedicated therapy center with state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment, therapeutic heated saltwater pool, and a combination of private and semi-private patient rooms. The facility will also house independent office space for I.U. La Porte Hospital staff and will offer a large community room, available for use by community groups and clubs. Construction is expected to be complete by Fall of 2016.
Miller’s Health and Rehab has been a part of the La Porte community since June, 2014, when the company first assumed operations of the hospital’s skilled unit. “It is a privilege to work hand-in-hand with dedicated physicians and other providers to care for our neighbors here in the LaPorte County area,” stated Boyle. “Each year around the State, our employee-owners work to get over 2500 patients back home to their families and friends after their recuperation stay with us. We are excited to make this capital investment in La Porte, and look forward to growing our services and employment opportunities in this community for many years to come.” Added Jake Revere, Healthcare Administrator of the healthcare facility, “We’re excited about this project and the opportunities it will give us to expand the range of therapies and support services we offer. It will also allow us to serve our patients and the community in new ways, with monthly health education and community programs specifically designed for seniors, along with space for clubs and organizations to meet.”
