To celebrate the recent completion of their extensive construction project, the employees and residents of Miller’s Merry Manor in Portage hosted an Open House for the community featuring tours of the rehabilitation facility’s new addition along with hors d'oeuvres, door prizes, and networking.
The project included a 3260 sq ft addition to the building which boasts a new drive-up canopy and entrance with reception area and lobby which lead to the spacious new therapy gym.
The healthcare facility’s new rehabilitation gym was constructed with multiple training zones to simulate several real life situations. The philosophy of “Real. Life. Rehab” is structured to utilize these zones to aid individuals’ successful transition to home following their stay. Training zones include a restaurant booth; a kitchen, complete with appliances and cabinets; a full restroom with bathtub; a simulated shopping area; and a laundry area with washer, dryer and ironing board.
Miller’s Merry Manor has been serving the greater Porter County area since 1987. Says Patrick Boyle, CEO, “We appreciate the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with so many dedicated physicians and other providers in the area to care for our neighbors. Our employee-owners work each year throughout the State to get nearly 3000 patients back home to their families and friends after their recuperation stays. Important enhancements like this will help us continue to fulfill our mission even more effectively.” Beth Ingram, Administrator of the healthcare and assisted living campus, added “We’re excited about this project and the opportunities it gives us to expand the rehabilitation and support services we offer as we work to get people back home to the place they most want to be. We’d love to have members of the community stop by to tour, meet our staff and therapists, and to see this beautiful new therapy gym and the rest of the addition.”
