Miller’s Health Systems, Inc. recently announced that its latest annual charity golf outing raised $25,000 to support the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center’s “Robbie Chair.” Each year, Miller’s Merry Manor in East Indianapolis along with Miller’s Senior Living Communities in Mooresville and Castleton host the Miller’s Charity Classic. The most recent event included more than 150 golfers and volunteers, along with members of the Miller family, friends, colleagues and staff gathering to play golf and support cancer research. Since its inception sixteen years ago, the Miller’s Charity Classic has raised more than $300,000 to benefit local charities and non-profit organizations.
“The Robbie Chair” was established in 1995 by Dick and Jane Miller in memory of their son. The Robert Wallace Miller Chair in Oncology is crucial in recruiting a nationally recognized cancer researcher who is named the “holder of the chair”. As a result, the chair holder is able to devote significant time and resources to this important research.
Planning for this year’s Charity Golf Classic, scheduled for September 8th 2016, is currently underway.
